Here are some general and basic rules of the road in Britain.
* Pass or overtake on the outside(right) lane.
* Always drive on the left-hand side of the road.
* Don't block the middle lane if the inside lane is clear.
* Stop your car at a red traffic light.
* You must have to obey all the traffic signals and road signs.
* Car horn is not allowed to use in built up areas from 23:30 to 07:00 hours.
* Don't use cell phone when driving. If you have to make a call, find a safe place to stop first.
* The minimum driving age is 17.
* Driver and front seat passenger must have to wear seat belts.

Red and yellow lines:
Single and double yellow lines along the edge of the road are used to show where you can and can not park.
* there are restrictions on parking at certain times on single yellow lines.. You can pull over on a single yellow line to let a passenger in or out of the car, but the driver mustn't get out. Check the signs on the road to find out parking restriction times.
* You can't park any time on double yellow line.
* Sometimes you can not stop or park on single red lines.
* You can not stop or park any time on double red lines.

There are thousand of car parks in Britain and the parks are great and also secure alternative to on-street parking. Generally you will have to pay but some are free. Fares of car parks are different, depend on location and time.

For car parks servicing a particular company, you usually have to be a customer to use them. For most car parks there's a time restraint on how long you can stay.In most car parks, there is a tariff board on display at the entrance which tells you how much it costs to park. The cost usually rises with every hour of your stay, and you pay on the way out.
