Mechanical immobilizers are inexpensive security devices for a car. Mechanical immobilizers works by making the car inoperable. The main benefit of this device is their highly visual appearance  which should ward off amateur car thieves  These are also called as "The Club". The club attaches to the steering wheel so that car can't be driven. There are other immobilizers available like to secure tires.

Car Alarm:

Car alarms are the basic car security device. These are visually effective but also little expensive. It consists of many electronic sensors and these sensors designed to activate when a car is breached, unauthorized entry, sudden movement, breaking of glass and premier violations  When these sensors detect any threat then a siren will activate with highly pitched sound. Generally the price range of these car alarms is $100 to $1000.

Vehicle Tracking System:

Even if your car has been stolen, new car tracking devices can get it back again. There are many electronic tracking devices those are being sold by dealerships. The GPS systems offer the real time location of  a car. These devices are more expensive.

VIN Etching:

Every car has a unique , 17 digit serial number called as VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). Normally VIN will be on the car's title and on your insurance and registration cards. You can also brand your car's parts by etching it's VIN on all it's important parts including windows. Doing this serves as both a tracking device and a theft deterrent.

Electronic immobilizers:

Now almost all cars come with car keys and fobs that protect their cars via electronic immobilizers. These keys and fobs can be integrated with an electronic immobilizer which will send signals to the fuel pump system and ignition system of the car and when some one will try to use the without these signals, it will  refuse to start.
